St. John's
Tour the oldest city in North America by motor coach. Experience the sights and sounds of the old port city of St. John's. Among the highlights of your tour will be a visit to Canada's second largest National Historic Park, Signal Hill, where you will see a breath taking view of the North Atlantic coastline as it drops off 550 feet to the ocean below. Visit the castle-like Cabot Tower where the very first Trans-Atlantic wireless message was received in 1901. Our professional guides and musical entertainers will enhance you experience of the "City of Legends" as they highlight such historical and cultural landmarks as the Queen's Battery and the Commissariat General's residence, which has been restored to its 1835 condition. Other stops include the Anglican Cathedral, the Roman Catholic Basilica, the Quidi Vidi Battery, the Newfoundland Museum and the Colonial Building, which is home of the first legislative government in North America. Finally, the tour highlights the Newfoundland War Memorial, Harbour Side Park, the landing site of Sir Humphrey Gilbert, and numerous other sites of historical interest.
Cape Spear
Experience the heart of Irish culture in Newfoundland, the "Southern Shore," in the comfort of our motor coach as you drive through the fishing communities of Black Head Bay, Maddox Cove, Petty Harbour, the Goulds, and Bay Bulls. You will also visit Cape Spear National Historic Park, the most easterly point in North America. As you walk around the site you can visit the oldest lighthouse in Newfoundland, still maintained by the 6th generation of the original light-keepers, the Cantwells. You may also get a chance to meet Bosun or Cabot, members of the famous dog breed, the Newfoundland, which were the first breed of water dogs produced in the New World. Opportunities abound for rewarding encounters with wildlife in its natural environment, so by all means bring your camera and lots of film.
